The ICAR-Central Institute for Cotton Research (ICAR-CICR) was established in April 1976 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) with the vision of positioning India as a global leader in cotton production and productivity through advancements in science and technology. Dedicated to addressing fundamental issues limiting cotton production, ICAR-CICR operates as a center of excellence, conducting research on diverse aspects of cotton cultivation. The institute actively collaborates with State Agricultural Universities, aiming to bridge regional yield gaps through the development and dissemination of cutting-edge technologies. With regional stations in Nagpur, Coimbatore, and Sirsa, ICAR-CICR focuses on providing comprehensive support to the cotton industry, including farmers, textile and processing industries, input agencies, and other research and development organizations. The institute's mission is to accelerate national cotton productivity growth and contribute to sustainable agricultural practices.

Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) is the only National Association that covers the entire spectrum of the Textile and Clothing Industry spanning domestic and exporting unit, including regional and sectoral associations from farms to garments and even textile machinery. CITI has signed MOUs with Thirteen major International Textile Associations for the promotion of textiles trade and investment. It, directly and indirectly, serves an industry that connects to millions of farmers, 100 million plus workforce, and 1.3 billion consumers. The cumulative annual turnover of CITI members is around USD 30 billion i.e. Rs.2 lakh crores plus. CITI works as an interface between the Government of India and Industry. It helps the Government in providing policy inputs supports the textile and clothing sector, association, capacity building, awareness creation and policy formulation that enhance the industry’s growth potential.
